This Girl Can Sang!!!

 Carlissa Weathers

Fantasia Barrino came to fame after winning American Idol season three in 2004. She is a native of High Point, North Carolina where she used her singing voice in church and the family band in many events around the city. Singing was just a mere hobby for Fantasia but after a very tramatizing past of abuse, pregnancy, and rape, she knew she needed something that would help change her world in a positive way. Winning American Idol was just the beginning for her. America fell in love with her beautiful soulful voice. Fantasia is one who can sing any song and sound good doing it bringing emotion, soul and church to every word she sings. She is definitely the best female vocalist of my generation and no one is like her. Dont even compare her to anyone else because Fantasia is one of a kind and Oprah seems to agree, placing her as the lead in the musical play, The Color Purple.

Love and Hip Hop

The new season of love and hip hop aired on Monday, November 14, 2011 and it was definitely an episode to remember. It already started off with confessions, fight, and a breakup. The show evolves around artists and their family as they battle love for each other and their love for the hip hop game. It feature artists such as Jim Jones, Fabulous, Olivia and Somaya and each artist not only have to focus on their music but also their love life. Jim being pressured by his girl to get married, Fab has a girl thats never been out public with him, Olivia trying to get back in the music game and Somaya struggling as a developing artist. Everyone in this show fighting for a different type of love, while being in the hip hop light. Who knows what will happen this season? Will Jim buy a wedding ring or will Somaya finally become a big star? This will definitely be a good season and I will be tuned in to every episode.

Rosa Parks

Carlissa Weathers
November 3, 2011

Rosa Parks is the mother of Modern Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks was born February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. On December 1, 1955 was the day that her life changed forever. After a long day of work, Rosa Parks took a bus ride home and decided to sit in a seat near the frot. Back then, only whites were allowed to ride in the front of city buses. After being asked to move and refusing, Rosa Parks was arrested. There were those before Rosa that refuse to give up there seat, but the day she refused was the beginning of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. African American decided that they would no longer ride the bus if they were not able to sit wherever. Gladly, Rosa Parks lived to see African Americans gain there freedom. She passed away October 24, 2005 in Detroit, Michigan. Her funeral lasted for many hours with many guest such as, Barrack Obama, Jesse Jackson, and many civil rights activist. Al Sharpton was one of many who spoke on her behalf. He let everyone know that she made a difference. She made the world respect her people the day she refused to move. Also that we as a people need to be thankful for where we at now, and to not let everybody who was fighting for freedom work go invane. Rosa wanted equal opportunity for everyone, she changed the lives of many and will continue to be honored for many years to come.
